Spring Gimmick Rally
Our first Maverick PCA Rally for 2025 will take place on Sunday, June 1st. Our road rallies are competitive events that do not involve speed, but test the navigational and observational skills of the Driver and Navigator teams.
This rally will start at J.M. Caldwell Sr. Community Park (once the site of a WWII Prisoner of War Camp) in Princeton, TX. The route will meander northeast to our final “international” destination of Paris, TX.
You will be given clear, easy-to-follow Numbered Route Instructions and be asked to find various signs or objects along the route that will provide answers to “gimmicky” questions or provide information to complete specific tasks.
Detailed information about this will be provided in the General Instructions you will receive prior to Rally Day.
Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, as well as “Dead Last but Finished.”
As an added bonus, the route will include a stop at the Eiffel Tower, where you’ll have the opportunity to have a memorable rally photo of you and your Porsche taken by our own rally Co-Chair, Daniel Dallacasa!!

01.
Registered entrants will receive General Instructions before the event. On Rally day, a Driver/Navigator meeting provides additional explanations and answers questions. Route Books with turn-by-turn directions and the rally’s “gimmick” are distributed. Review the Route Book and General Instructions before dispatching cars on the 60 to 90-mile course at one- to two-minute intervals. Following instructions from the Navigator and interpreting route instructions correctly are crucial for success!
02.
Cars individually leave a pre-designated point at an individual starting time and travel from point to point until they reach the finish. The winner is the team that has most accurately negotiated the route and solved the gimmicks. You may run a rally competitively, or treat it as a pleasant day's scenic drive, ending with the camaraderie of your fellow Porsche Club members at the finish - either way you will have fun! We always try to have our destinations be interesting and have food.

Upcoming
Events
The objective of a rally is to follow a course from point to point, usually on public roads, to the precise detail specified in the rules - it can be competitive or for fun. Competitive rallies dictate a certain time schedule for the checkpoints along the way. Points are deducted by arriving at the checkpoint either early or late. Fun rallies may include a gimmick (poker rally, regional interest). Part of the challenge with a fun rally is to discover the intended route, which may require other skills such as solving a puzzle or looking for obscure reference points.
A Gimmick Rally is not a timed event or a race, and participants are subject to local speed limits and traffic laws.
